When is the WM Phoenix Open?
It is played in early February, in the stretch of the calendar around the Super Bowl, and runs Thursday to Sunday with practice days before it. Exact dates are confirmed by the PGA Tour each year, so talk to us and we will build the trip around the right week.
Where is it held?
The Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale, in Scottsdale, Arizona. It has hosted the tournament since 1987 and is a public course for the rest of the year.
What is so special about the 16th hole?
It is the only fully enclosed hole in professional golf. Temporary grandstands ring the green from tee to putting surface and hold tens of thousands of spectators, and the noise when a tee shot finds the green is unlike anything else in the sport. Players are cheered and booed in equal measure.
Why is it called The People's Open?
Because of the crowds. It draws the largest attendance of any tournament on the PGA Tour by a wide margin, and the atmosphere is closer to a stadium sport than a golf tournament.
What is the weather like in February?
Scottsdale in February is warm and dry by British standards, typically in the high teens to low twenties Celsius during the day, but it drops away sharply once the sun goes down. Bring layers for the evenings.
