What is the Solheim Cup?
The Ryder Cup's counterpart in women's golf: a team match between Europe and the United States, played every two years. It is the most prestigious team event in the women's game.
Where is it being played?
The 2026 Solheim Cup is at Bernardus Golf Club in Cromvoirt in the Netherlands, and 2028 goes to Valhalla Golf Club in Kentucky. We have packages building for both.
What is the format?
Twenty eight matches over three days between teams of twelve, the same shape as the Ryder Cup. Foursomes and fourballs first, then singles on the final day, with fourteen and a half points needed to win.
Who is it named after?
Karsten Solheim, the engineer who founded Ping. He and his family put up the trophy and backed the first match in 1990.
Is it a good event to watch in person?
It is one of the best. The crowds are smaller than a Ryder Cup, the golf is match play so every hole matters, and the atmosphere carries the same partisan edge without the scale that keeps you at a distance.
